Oasis At Biskra

by Anne Waldman

Limited edition of 150 copies cassette featuring poet, original Angel Hair founder and Naropa/Jack Kerouac School Of Disembodied Poetics professor Anne Waldman reading and singing with Thurston Moore on guitar, Daniel Carter on saxophone, Ambrose Bye on synth and Devin Brahja Waldman on saxophone: Waldman’s poems and readings have a cantorial musicality and an alternately apocalyptic and body Gnostic approach, bringing great ascensions of epiglottal passion to play on shamanic word gambits and visions of Ginsberg-ian cycles of eros, cosmos and thanatos. Carter sounds alternately haunted and inspired, playing in a ghostly, lamenting style before the whole group come crashing in, with Thurston playing w/the kind of overamped freestyle that would give the cassette the feel of a live Universal Mutant Repertory Company freak. Comes with a free download. Fantastic.
